Gambling regulation in Gujarat

Gujarat enforces the Gujarat Prevention of Gambling Act, 1887 strictly; its High Court treated poker as gambling rather than skill (2017), closing the card-room route other states tolerate. Alcohol prohibition culture extends to a hard line on gaming; no venues are licensed. Across every state and union territory, online money games are prohibited nationwide by the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, in force since 1 May 2026 and enforced by the Online Gaming Authority of India.

Online money games are prohibited across India under the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, in force since 1 May 2026 — regardless of any historical state-level permissions. The notes above concern land-based and state-specific rules.

Land-based casinos in Gujarat

State law prohibits casino gambling here, and no licensed land-based casinos operate. We therefore list no venues for this state.

Regional gaming preferences

Despite prohibition, festive Teen Patti during Navratri and Diwali is a famous social reality — played privately, not in any licensed setting.

Popular sports & traditional games

Cricket is a religion (Narendra Modi Stadium is the world's largest); kabaddi strong.

Payment infrastructure

A merchant economy that went UPI-first early; payments infrastructure is excellent.
