The merged UT inherits the Goa, Daman and Diu Public Gambling Act, 1976, which on its face allows licensed casinos in Daman and Diu as in Goa. In practice the flagship project (a casino at the Deltin hotel in Daman) has been stuck in licensing and court disputes for years — as of 2026, litigation over gaming operations there was still live, and no settled, operating licensed casino floor is confirmed (Needs Verification). Across every state and union territory, online money games are prohibited nationwide by the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, in force since 1 May 2026 and enforced by the Online Gaming Authority of India.
