Paytm is one of India's largest payment apps: a UPI app, a licensed wallet (Paytm Payments Bank history aside), merchant QR network and financial-services storefront in one.

Adoption in India

A household name with an enormous merchant QR footprint; post-2024 regulatory restructuring of its banking arm shifted most flows to UPI rails via partner banks (details: Needs Verification).

Supported deposits & withdrawals

Deposits: UPI push, wallet balance, linked cards.
Withdrawals: to wallet or bank, where a counterparty supports payouts.

Payment processing characteristics

Wallet transactions settle instantly inside the ecosystem; UPI flows settle bank-to-bank.

Availability and restrictions

An application layered on UPI and wallet rails — not infrastructure itself. Legal note: since 1 May 2026 the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 prohibits online money games in India and bars financial facilitation of them, so Indian payment rails must not be assumed available for gambling transactions. We never claim gambling-payment availability for a method unless specifically verified.

Security & compliance

RBI-regulated PPI (wallet) rules apply: KYC tiers, balance caps; app-level device binding and PIN.
