Gambling regulation in Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh moved from the standard prohibition model to an explicit online ban: the A.P. Gaming (Amendment) Act, 2020 extended the Andhra Pradesh Gaming Act, 1974 to online games played for stakes, including skill formats such as rummy. No casinos operate. Across every state and union territory, online money games are prohibited nationwide by the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, in force since 1 May 2026 and enforced by the Online Gaming Authority of India.

Online money games are prohibited across India under the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, in force since 1 May 2026 — regardless of any historical state-level permissions. The notes above concern land-based and state-specific rules.

Land-based casinos in Andhra Pradesh

State law prohibits casino gambling here, and no licensed land-based casinos operate. We therefore list no venues for this state.

Regional gaming preferences

Card play — Teen Patti and rummy — has deep social roots here, which is precisely what drove the 2020 crackdown after a wave of gambling-debt harm.

Popular sports & traditional games

Cricket is the headline sport; kabaddi and volleyball retain strong rural followings.

Payment infrastructure

Rapidly digitising: UPI adoption is high even in smaller towns; the 2020 amendment also aimed at payment facilitation.
